Mission

Our mission is to engage the ‘village’ to help build a better future for our children by providing activities designed to promote their spiritual, social and educational well being so that they can reach their fullest potential.

About

It Takes A Village To Help Our Children, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving children on both ends of Somerset County, Md. Currently offering afterschool and summer programs to meet the out of school time needs of our community.

Overview

In 2009, It Takes A Village Organization, Inc. and Help Our Children Foundation, Inc. merged to form, ‘It Takes A Village To Help Our Children, Inc.’, in order to create a stronger, more viable organization. The combined organization serve more than 200 youth ages 5 to 17 and operate afterschool and summer programs at two youth center locations; the Village Youth Center in Crisfield, Md. and the Garland Hayward Youth Center in Princess Anne, Md. Both centers offer a variety of programs and services, including homework help, tutoring, academic enrichment, character development, meals, recreational activities and field trips. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 2:30pm to 6:00pm. .

General Info

It Takes a Village to Help Our Children, Inc. wants to be that support system, that ‘gap’, if you will, that is there to guide our kids from where they are, to where they need to be. In order to meet the challenges facing our communities youth, we are reaching out to engage, ‘the village’. We Need You!

Certificate of Excellence

2018

Executive Director of It Takes A Village to Help Our Children, Inc. received a certificate of Excellence from MSDE 21st Century After School Programs for lights on support to Maryland’s after school programs.
